Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care on a Med-Surg/Telemetry unit during night shifts
• Monitor telemetry and respond to cardiac changes promptly and confidently
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a Level III trauma teaching hospital to coordinate care
• Perform thorough assessments, document in Epic, and communicate changes clearly during handoffs
• Float between like units as needed to meet facility needs while maintaining safe patient ratios
• Support patients and families with compassion, education, and clear communication

Qualifications

• Active RN license (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years experience in Med-Surg/Telemetry (MS/Tele) required
• BLS and ACLS required; NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• First-time travel nurses accepted — we welcome new travelers
• Willingness to float within scope to like units and meet facility needs
• Available to work nights and every-other-weekend schedule
• Not available to clinicians living within a 50-mile radius of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center (locals not accepted)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring skills and ability to interpret rhythms
• Med-Surg clinical competence including medication administration and acute patient assessment
• Proficient charting experience with Epic
• Comfort working in a fast-paced Level III trauma/teaching hospital environment
• Ability to work autonomously on night shift and escalate as appropriate
• Team-oriented communication and reliable handoff practices
