Shift Type: Day shift (4x10): 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM (typically four 10-hour day shifts per week). On-call rotation: approximately 5-6 on-call shifts every 2 weeks, including every-other-weekend coverage (Fri 5:30 PM - Mon 7:00 AM) with a 30-minute response requirement. Rotating / On-call schedule.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform and assist with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, including PCI and left/right heart caths
• Scrub and circulate for interventional cases, maintaining sterile technique and procedural flow
• Monitor patients through procedural sedation and manage airway, hemodynamics, and emergency meds when needed
• Remove and monitor sheaths, apply topical hemostatic agents, and manage vascular closure systems
• Interpret and help manage dysrhythmias, use advanced cardiac life support interventions as required
• Document care clearly in Epic so the team has accurate, timely patient records
• Respond to on-call notifications within 30 minutes and provide excellent continuity of care across shifts
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes in a high-acuity setting

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (no pending licenses accepted at time of submission)
• Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab experience required (travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted)
• ACLS certification required
• Proven ability to respond to on-call assignments with a 30-minute response time
• Experience with Epic charting required
• Scrub experience and familiarity with interventional cardiology equipment preferred
• LA City Fire Card and additional certifications (TEE, TAVR/TAVI, EP skills) are a plus
• Comfort working in a Magnet acute care hospital environment and supporting adult/geriatric patients

Education

• Nursing education (ADN/BSN or equivalent) with active RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac catheterization workflows and interventional cath lab procedures (PCI, stents, left/right heart cath, IABP/Impella support)
• Monitoring and administration of procedural sedation and emergency medications
• Sheath removal, topical hemostasis, and vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
• Interpretation/management of dysrhythmias and use of ACLS protocols
• Radiation and laser safety principles in the lab
• Familiarity with electrophysiology procedures (ablation, mapping, device programming) and TEE/TAVR support
• IV therapy, central line assistance, and ventilator basics for peri-procedural support
• Strong documentation skills using Epic and clear interdisciplinary communication
