Roles & Responsibilities

• Greet patients and take accurate vital signs to ensure safe, efficient visits
• Prepare patients for examinations by recording history, medications, and allergies
• Perform venipuncture and collect, label, and prepare lab specimens per provider direction
• Administer immunizations, injections, or oral medications as directed
• Set up exam and procedure rooms and clean/reprocess equipment following guidelines
• Document care and patient information in the EMR (charting/EMR documentation)
• Assist with authorization forms, insurance verification, and telephone triage
• Explain clinic policies and procedures to patients within scope of practice
• Support department data tracking and follow-up tasks to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national MA certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, or MMCI)
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions or declinations)
• Minimum 1 year working as an MA in an outpatient clinic or medical office setting
• Proficiency in venipuncture and blood/lab draws
• Preferred: 2+ years MA experience in Internal Medicine/Family Medicine
• Preferred: Phlebotomy certification and experience with CS-Link/Epic
• Preferred: Experience with medical insurance/referral processes and Quest Diagnostics submissions

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma (DAPIP-accredited) or national MA certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, MMCI)

Knowledge & Skills

• Taking accurate vital signs and preparing patients for exams
• Venipuncture, blood draws, capillary and specimen collection and labeling
• EMR/charting (Epic/CS-Link familiarity preferred)
• Administering immunizations and injections (intradermal, intramuscular)
• Authorization forms, insurance verification, and telephone triage
• Basic lab testing: glucose checks, pregnancy, strep, urinalysis
• 12-lead EKG acquisition and pulse oximetry
• Medical terminology and outpatient clinic workflows
• Infection control, equipment reprocessing, and room setup procedures
