Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, skilled nursing care to adult rehab patients with focus and attention
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and on schedule
- Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor for changes, escalating concerns promptly
- Document care and progress clearly in the electronic medical record to support continuity
- Collaborate with therapists, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to drive rehabilitation goals
- Educate patients and families on care plans, safety, and discharge preparations
- Maintain compliance with facility policies and state nursing regulations to ensure quality and safety
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in New Mexico (RN) — LPN applicants may be considered per posting class
- Current, valid nursing education (diploma, ADN, or BSN) appropriate to licensure level
- Comfortable and experienced working overnight/extended shifts in a busy rehab setting
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to pass facility onboarding requirements and background checks for travel staff
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/BSN for RNs; diploma or practical nursing program for LPNs)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and clinical observation skills relevant to rehab populations
- Safe medication administration and documentation practices
- Familiarity with wound care, ADL support, and mobilization principles
- Proficient charting in electronic medical records and clear clinical documentation
- Effective time management, triage, and prioritization in a fast-paced environment
- Teamwork, empathy, and the ability to coach patients toward recovery goals
