Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM; primarily nights with weekend coverage required (minimum every other weekend; contract notes 6+ weekend shifts may be required)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate critical care to adult and geriatric ICU patients with complex diagnoses
• Manage 1:2 patient ratios safely, including ventilated patients and those on vasoactive drips
• Perform advanced bedside care such as arterial line and central line management, blood product administration, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, PT, pharmacy and rapid response to deliver coordinated care
• Accurately document patient care using Epic and communicate changes in patient status to the care team
• Float to like units as needed (including Providence Mission Laguna) while maintaining high standards of care
• Participate in emergency responses, dysrhythmia management, and other critical events with calm, evidence-based action

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of ICU or critical care experience (first-timers accepted with 1 year req)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS; NIH/NIHSS listed as required in job data
• Preferred certifications: CPI, MAB, NIHSS experience a plus
• Comfortable with night shifts and a weekend schedule (minimum every other weekend; 6+ weekends per contract)
• Ability to float within like units and adapt to varying acuity levels
• Familiarity with Epic charting system

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced hemodynamic monitoring including arterial lines and Swan-Ganz/Pulmonary Artery monitoring
• Management of ventilated patients, high flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP support and chest tube care
• Starting and maintaining IVs, PICC/central line care, and blood product administration
• Titration and monitoring of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation
• Interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias with prompt clinical intervention
• Post-operative cardiac and neurosurgical patient care, including ICP and EVD monitoring (preferred)
• Familiarity with oncology infusions and chemotherapy administration is a plus
