Roles & Responsibilities

• Identify, accession, and accurately log all tissue specimens with strict patient identification and demographic entry
• Assist pathologists during gross examinations by providing labeled tissue cassettes and handling specimen logistics
• Operate tissue processors, embed specimens, cut sections, and prepare slides promptly for diagnostic review
• Prepare frozen sections immediately upon receipt to support intraoperative consultations
• Perform special histochemical stains as requested and deliver results within required timeframes
• Prepare and package specimens for outside consultation and ensure proper labeling and documentation
• File and maintain slides and tissue blocks with meticulous indexing and rotate stored specimens as required

Qualifications

• Certified Histotechnologist (ASCP) or equivalent certification required
• Proven ability in tissue processing, microtomy, frozen section preparation, and histochemical staining
• Experience with specimen accessioning, gross examination assistance, slide preparation, and anatomic pathology workflows
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate patient identification and documentation
• Comfortable working Monday–Friday day shifts and meeting turnaround expectations set by pathologists
• Good communication skills and ability to take direction from supervisors and pathologists
