Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor critically ill cardiac surgery patients with attention to detail and compassion
• Administer medications and advanced therapies safely according to protocols
• Operate and troubleshoot hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator support
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams to drive best patient outcomes
• Provide clear, empathetic patient and family education during high-stress moments
• Document accurate and timely clinical notes in the electronic medical record
• Participate in handoffs and multidisciplinary rounds to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in state of practice (or compact RN as applicable)
• Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU or cardiac ICU experience
• BLS and ACLS certification (current)
• Strong critical thinking and acute care assessment skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a collaborative team
• Basic familiarity with common ICU equipment and electronic charting systems

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Care of post-cardiac surgery and mechanically supported patients
• Cardiac telemetry and hemodynamic monitoring
• Ventilator management and advanced airway support
• Medication titration for vasoactive drips and sedation
• Infection control, central line, and invasive line care
• Patient and family communication during critical illness
