Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor patient cardiac telemetry continuously and respond to changes promptly
• Provide high-quality med/surg nursing care on a surgical oncology unit
• Administer chemotherapy only if chemotherapy-certified and follow safe handling protocols
• Document care accurately in the MediTech EMR to ensure continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care
• Use BLS (and ACLS when required) to manage emergencies and stabilize patients
• Maintain patient safety, manage patient ratios (approximately 1:6), and escalate concerns as needed
• Educate patients and families about treatments, post-op care, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (as indicated in the job posting)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — required
• Med/Surg nursing experience — required
• Telemetry experience — required
• Chemotherapy certification — preferred and required to administer chemo on this unit
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) — preferred
• Comfort using MediTech EMR and GE telemetry monitoring systems

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills
• Hands-on med/surg and surgical oncology nursing experience
• Familiarity with MediTech electronic medical record
• Experience with GE telemetry monitoring and Welch Allyn vital signs equipment
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced hospital environment
• Clear clinical judgment and effective communication with patients and staff
