Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based critical care to ICU patients, including ventilator and hemodynamic management
• Manage post-CABG and complex cardiac surgical patients with attention to detail and safety
• Perform and document bedside nursing assessments and clear shift-to-shift reports, updating the unit whiteboard
• Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapy, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
• Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition, initiate ACLS protocols when needed, and perform CPR competently
• Follow unit guidelines including dress code, attendance policies, and floating procedures when required
• Contribute to a patient-centered environment where communication, compassion, and professionalism are priorities

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2+ years ICU experience required; CVICU/advanced cardiac experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Experience with post-CABG care, ECMO or heart transplant cases is a strong plus
• Meditech documentation experience preferred
• Strong teamwork, communication, and bedside reporting skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ICU protocols
• Ventilator management and respiratory therapy collaboration
• Hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive medications
• Post-operative cardiac care (CABG, CVICU knowledge)
• ACLS/BLS and emergency response
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic documentation
• Ability to work in a high-acuity unit, including ECMO and transplant cases
• Excellent patient communication and bedside handoff practices
