Shift Type: Night shifts (NOC); specific start/end times not specified in posting. NOC with call coverage: 36-48 hours per week, plus 6-8 call shifts per 6-week schedule. Hours will not exceed 4 shifts/week unless mutually agreed between nurse and OB Manager. No guaranteed block scheduling or consistent weekends off.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality labor & delivery nursing and postpartum care for mothers and newborns
• Respond to obstetric emergencies and lead initial stabilization steps when needed
• Perform fetal monitoring interpretation and timely documentation to support optimal outcomes
• Manage call responsibilities professionally, coordinating with physicians and surgical teams
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge planning
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth transitions of care
• Participate in unit-level quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN license or qualifying Compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience with demonstrated experience in OB, Labor & Delivery, and Postpartum care
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• Intermediate AWHONN competency required
• Prior night shift experience and comfort with call coverage
• Strong clinical judgment, crisis management skills, and ability to work autonomously on NOC

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge of maternal-fetal physiology and postpartum care
• Fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation skills
• Newborn resuscitation and stabilization familiarity
• Ability to triage obstetric concerns and coordinate escalation
• Clear communication and teamwork with physicians, midwives, and ancillary staff
• Accurate EMR/charting and documentation practices
