Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate oncology and post-surgical nursing care to adults on a 24-bed unit
• Administer treatments and coordinate care using Cerner EMR to ensure accurate documentation and patient safety
• Support and perform occasional procedures such as pelvic exams, echocardiography assistance, and thoracentesis monitoring
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans with empathy and clarity
• Maintain safe patient ratios and triage priorities in a fast-paced med-surg/oncology environment
• Serve as a team player who mentors colleagues, pitches in across the unit, and helps maintain a positive workplace culture

Qualifications

• Valid RN license (required) for practice in North Carolina
• BLS certification (required) and current basic clinical competencies
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (oncology or med-surg highly preferred)
• CNA license listed among primary skills (if applicable to your background)
• Chemo Certification preferred — candidates with chemo experience will be considered first
• Comfortable working overnight shifts and scheduled weekend coverage
• Experience with Cerner EMR a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology and med-surg clinical knowledge and best practices
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records
• Comfort with occasional pelvic exams and assisting with echo and thoracentesis
• Strong assessment, critical thinking and patient prioritization skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient education abilities
• Ability to work within 1:4–1:5 patient ratio and adapt to unit staffing needs
