Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, post-operative orthopedic nursing care for adults and seniors using Cerner EMR for accurate documentation
• Perform dressing changes and assist with suture and staple removal to support patient healing
• Manage Foley catheter care and NG tube maintenance safely and according to policy
• Monitor and maintain Wound Vac systems, including troubleshooting and removal when appropriate
• Assist patients with mobility using walkers, lift devices, and transfer equipment to promote recovery
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure smooth transitions of care and excellent patient outcomes
• Support unit flow as needed, including floating to other med-surg areas and participating in every other weekend rotations

Qualifications

• Active NC RN license (required)
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (hospital experience preferred; orthopedic experience a plus)
• Comfortable with Cerner EMR and common orthopedic equipment
• Ability to work nights and every other weekend, and to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing principles and post-op care
• Wound Vac maintenance and dressing change technique
• Foley catheter care and NG tube management
• Experience with Cerner electronic medical records
• Safe patient handling and mobility device use (Sara Stedy, lifts, gait aids)
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, and patient-centered communication
