Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage incoming patients quickly and accurately, prioritizing care based on clinical need and patient safety
• Assess patients across the lifespan and develop individualized plans of care using ENA standards
• Implement nursing interventions and document clearly and thoroughly in the medical record
• Manage emergencies and acute changes in patient condition in accordance with Mount Nittany policies
• Coordinate discharge planning and educate patients and families on follow-up care and resources
• Ensure supplies and equipment are ready and functioning to deliver safe, efficient care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support seamless patient flow and optimal outcomes
• Participate in hourly rounding and maintaining situational awareness in the waiting room when volumes are high

Qualifications

• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure required
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS (American Heart Association) — maintained and renewed per policy
• Valid NIHSS certification required
• Experience in emergency nursing, triage and patient assessment strongly preferred
• Comfortable with ENA standards and emergency department workflows
• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
• EPIC computer charting experience preferred
• Ability to handle high-stress situations with tact, sensitivity and sound judgment

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage principles and rapid patient assessment
• Care planning and nursing process implementation
• Comprehensive nursing documentation and charting (EPIC preferred)
• Patient and family education techniques for diverse populations
• Familiarity with ENA emergency nursing standards and protocols
• Ability to manage complications and coordinate emergency responses
