Roles & Responsibilities

• Room and screen patients efficiently and compassionately to prepare them for provider exams
• Perform point-of-care testing and optical measurements with attention to accuracy
• Acquire ocular images including photos, OCT, visual fields, and topography and upload for provider review
• Accurately document clinical findings and patient interactions in the medical record in a timely manner
• Assist patients with optical orders: benefits verification, frame selection, measurements, order entry, and dispensing
• Manage inventory, order supplies, and support invoice reconciliation to keep the clinic running smoothly
• Support scheduling, triage, and referral coordination to ensure timely patient care
• Answer phones, respond to patient questions, and collaborate with referral care coordinators and providers
• Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold clinic policies and standards

Qualifications

• National Medical Assistant certification required
• BLS certification required
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum one year of medical assistant experience
• Flu vaccine required prior to assignment start
• Ability to complete fingerprint/background processing (start date will be no less than 5 weeks after fingerprint cards are received by SEARHC)
• Strong customer service skills, clear communication, and attention to detail
