Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-acuity critical care to adult and geriatric ICU patients, managing complex diagnoses and life-saving interventions
• Assess, monitor and titrate vasoactive drips and continuous IV sedation to maintain hemodynamic stability
• Manage advanced lines and devices: arterial lines, central lines, PICCs, chest tubes and pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) monitoring where applicable
• Provide ventilator management, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP support and interpret ABGs for timely respiratory care decisions
• Administer blood products, manage transfusion safety, and assist with procedural sedation when required
• Respond rapidly to cardiac events: interpret dysrhythmias, perform emergency interventions and support code responses
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory, PT, Pharmacy, Radiology, Social Work) to coordinate patient-centered care
• Float between like units as needed to meet facility needs while maintaining scope and safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license required (pending licenses are not accepted) — California licensure expected
• Minimum 1 year of ICU experience (first-timers accepted for this role)
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (NIHSS noted as required/preferred in unit details)
• Comfort and experience with 1:2 patient ratios in ICU settings
• Willingness to float to like units including possible float to Providence Mission Laguna
• Ability to work night shifts and meet weekend coverage requirements
• Orientation requirement: 24 hours pre-approved; include requested RTO at time of submission

Knowledge & Skills

• Arterial line and central line care/management
• PICC line care and IV therapy, including starting and maintaining IVs
• Ventilator care and respiratory support (HFNC, BiPAP, CPAP) and ABG interpretation
• Management and titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips
• Blood product administration and transfusion safety
• Chest tube assistance and thoracic post-op care
• Familiarity with ECMO, IABP, EVD and advanced neuro/cardiac support (preferred experience)
• Experience with Epic charting and critical care documentation
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions and surgical wound/VAC management
