Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for LTAC patients, including ventilator and tracheostomy management
• Administer medications and manage complex IV therapies, central lines, PICCs, and arterial lines safely
• Perform and interpret ABGs and assist with respiratory interventions such as HFNC and chest tube management
• Manage wound care and wound vac therapy for patients recovering from debridement and amputations
• Support renal care tasks including pre/post hemodialysis considerations and Continuous Bladder Irrigation
• Monitor cardiac telemetry, recognize dysrhythmias, and participate in emergency response
• Document thoroughly in Epic to ensure continuity of care and clear communication with the care team
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social work) to support patient-centered outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license appropriate for practice (NC licensure/compact where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry settings (MS/Tele)
• Travel experience is required for this assignment
• Previous LTAC experience preferred and experience with stepdown/telemetry settings is a plus
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS preferred
• Comfortable with Epic electronic charting and telemetry monitoring
• Ability to float between like units as needed and work scheduled weekends as required

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator and tracheostomy care and management
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and oxygen therapy expertise
• Arterial line management and interpretation of ABGs
• Central line/PICC care, peripheral IV starts, and phlebotomy skills
• Blood product administration and adherence to heparin/insulin protocols
• Cardiac monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and familiarity with vasoactive/cardiac drips
• Wound care and wound vac management, including care after surgical debridement
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork in a fast-paced LTAC environment
