Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and provide compassionate care for high-risk antepartum patients from 6 weeks to 41 weeks
• Perform and assist with sterile speculum exams at the bedside and document findings
• Maintain IV therapy and central lines (CVC/PICC) with safe line care practices
• Administer critical medications including anticoagulants, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate
• Circulate for C-sections and collaborate effectively with the OR and L&D teams
• Support patients and families through difficult events including fetal demise and postpartum loss with sensitivity
• Coordinate care for postpartum mothers whose babies are in the NICU and collaborate with neonatal teams
• Accurately document care and communicate changes to interdisciplinary team members

Qualifications

• Active RN license (facility honors active compact license for Swedish facilities)
• Minimum 2 years clinical RN experience; screen out candidates with less than 2 years or no C-section experience
• Required certifications: AWHONN Advanced, BLS, NRP
• Preferred: ACLS
• Comfortable maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC), IV therapy, PCA and syringe pumps
• Ability to circulate for C-section and float to postpartum unit
• Compassionate approach to patient care including bereavement situations

Knowledge & Skills

• High Risk Antepartum conditions: preterm labor, previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, hypertension, PROM, multiples, substance use in pregnancy
• Skilled in sterile speculum exams, effacement/dilation/station assessments
• Medication administration expertise for anticoagulants, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate
• Experience with PICC/central line maintenance, PCA pumps and syringe pumps
• Labor & Delivery support including circulating for C-sections
• Comfort collaborating with NICU and providing postpartum mother support
