Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide specialized antepartum care for high-risk patients from ~6 weeks to 41 weeks gestation
• Manage IV therapy and maintain central access including PICC/CVC lines safely
• Administer and monitor critical infusions such as magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and anticoagulants
• Circulate and support during C-section procedures to ensure smooth perioperative care
• Perform and support sterile speculum exams and bedside procedures including amniocentesis assistance
• Care for patients experiencing fetal demise, pregnancy loss, or mothers with infants in the NICU with sensitivity and professionalism
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and follow individualized care plans for complex antepartum patients
• Float to Postpartum unit as needed and adapt to changing unit needs while maintaining high standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (compact license may be honored depending on facility guidelines)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; screen out candidates with less than 2 years or without C-section experience
• AWHONN Advanced certification (required)
• BLS and NRP required
• ACLS preferred
• Hands-on experience with C-sections, central line maintenance (PICC/CVC), PCA and syringe pumps
• Comfortable administering and titrating magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and anticoagulants
• Willingness to float to postpartum and work night shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of high-risk antepartum diagnoses: PTL, previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, hypertension, PROM, multiples, and substance use in pregnancy
• Skilled in fetal monitoring and maternal assessment (effacement, dilation, station, presentation)
• Proficient with IV therapy, phlebotomy, PCA pumps, syringe pumps and central line care
• Experience circulating in C-sections and working in perioperative obstetric settings
• Compassionate communication for families experiencing loss or NICU stays
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with L&D and postpartum teams
