Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative CVOR nursing care and support surgical teams during complex cardiac procedures
• Assist with procedures such as CABG, TAVR, MAZE, mitral valve repair/replacement and ASD repair
• Prepare, operate, and monitor specialized equipment including cell saver systems
• Administer blood and blood products safely and follow transfusion protocols
• Maintain strict infection control, specimen labeling, and universal time-out procedures
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Epic
• Participate in on-call coverage and float within scope to meet facility needs
• Actively contribute to patient safety, emergency management, and radiation/laser safety protocols

Qualifications

• Active RN license — Alaska RN license strongly preferred; pending Alaska RN accepted
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience (first-timers and those new to travel welcome)
• BLS and ACLS required
• Ability to participate in on-call rotation and float as needed
• Current credentials and RTO restrictions must be provided with submittal

Education

• Active RN licensure (Alaska preferred; pending accepted)

Knowledge & Skills

• Experience or familiarity with CVOR procedures: CABG, TAVR, MAZE, mitral valve replacement, ASD repair
• Cell saver competency and operative instrumentation awareness
• Administration of blood and blood products
• Infection control and wound management best practices
• Radiation safety, laser safety, and universal protocol (time-out) compliance
• Specimen handling and accurate labeling
• Comfortable charting in Epic and working within interdisciplinary surgical teams
• Strong emergency management and OR fire safety awareness
