Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients across the lifespan and develop clear, patient-centered plans of care
• Perform adaptive equipment assessments and recommend safety-focused interventions
• Create and implement splints and upper extremity prosthetic care when indicated
• Provide hands-on therapies and modalities, including ultrasound, to support recovery
• Document thoroughly and timely in Epic to ensure continuity of care and accurate billing
• Collaborate with physical therapy and nursing in interdisciplinary care planning
• Lead reassessments, discharge planning, and patient/family education to maximize outcomes
• Deliver home exercise programs and train patients/families in safe lifting and transfer techniques

Qualifications

• Current California occupational therapy license (active at time of hire)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in acute care, inpatient rehab, or related setting
• Comfortable charting in Epic or similar electronic health record systems
• Demonstrated skills in splinting, adaptive equipment recommendations, and discharge planning
• Ability to work one weekend day every other weekend and float between acute rehab and other inpatient floors as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in Activities of Daily Living evaluation and intervention
• Proficient with adaptive equipment selection and training
• Experience with evaluation tools, plan of care development, and reassessments
• Competent in splinting techniques, dynamic and functional splints
• Familiar with prosthetics/orthotics and upper extremity prosthetics care
• Modalities experience including therapeutic ultrasound
• Strong patient and family education, safety and injury prevention coaching
• Solid documentation and billing practices for timely and accurate charting
