Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients thoroughly and develop individualized, evidence-based plans of care
• Deliver hands-on manual and hand therapy, splinting, and prosthetics/orthotics support
• Document assessments, plans, and progress accurately in Epic
• Collaborate with PT, nursing, social work, pharmacy and other team members to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families on adaptive equipment, safety, and home readiness
• Perform reassessments and adjust treatment plans to promote functional independence
• Support infection prevention and fall/risk assessment initiatives to keep patients safe
• Participate in discharge planning and pre-discharge preparation to optimize outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Occupational Therapy license for practice (state licensure required; pending license not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year acute care or hospital occupational therapy experience
• Experience with hand therapy, splinting, or prosthetics/orthotics preferred
• Comfortable charting in Epic (charting system required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or similar certifications preferred
• Strong patient/family education and safety-focused clinical skills
• Ability to float between units as needed and work the scheduled Tuesday-Saturday rotation

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assessment, plan of care development, and reassessments
• Proficient with activities of daily living (ADL) training and adaptive equipment
• Experience with manual therapy techniques and hand therapy interventions
• Knowledge of prosthetics/orthotics and splint fabrication (dynamic, functional, static)
• Familiarity with billing/documentation best practices
• Infection prevention, fall/risk assessment, and acute care safety protocols
• Comfort using Epic for documentation and interdisciplinary communication
