Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive SLP evaluations including bedside swallow evaluations and dysphagia assessments
• Conduct and document plan of care, reassessments, and SLP evaluation coding accurately in Epic
• Complete MBS-IMP studies and interpret video fluoroscopy results as required
• Manage dysphagia treatment plans, compensatory strategies, and therapeutic interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, respiratory therapy, and rehab teams to coordinate patient care
• Provide clear patient and family education and in-service training for unit staff as needed
• Maintain timely, compliant billing and documentation that supports Medicare A and B workflows
• Provide compassionate care across acuity levels from ICU-level patients to those headed for SNF or outpatient care

Qualifications

• Current AK state SLP license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of SLP experience
• Ability and willingness to complete MBS-IMP (required for all SLPs at this facility)
• Comfort treating adults and geriatric populations across a range of diagnoses including dysphagia, aphasia, apraxia, dementia, and TBI
• Available for weekend coverage as part of the rotation
• Pending licenses are not accepted; local candidates are not eligible (candidate permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility)

Knowledge & Skills

• Bedside Swallow Evaluation and Dysphagia Management
• MBS-IMP and interpretation of Video Fluoroscopy
• SLP evaluation, plan of care development, and reassessments
• SLP evaluation coding, billing, and documentation best practices
• Working knowledge of trach/vent care and feeding strategies for ventilator-assisted patients
• Familiarity with alternative and augmentative communication methods and adaptive equipment
• Experience with neurologic diagnoses including CVA, degenerative diseases, TBI, and anoxia
• Strong patient/family education and interdisciplinary communication skills
