Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care with compassion and clinical competence
• Perform thorough assessments and use critical thinking to prioritize care
• Administer treatments and medications safely and accurately following facility protocols
• Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and timely
• Maintain certification and competency requirements, participating in unit-specific testing and checklists
• Support quality improvement initiatives and promote a culture of safety on the unit

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of Iowa or compact license as applicable
• BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications (current)
• Successful license/certificate verification prior to start
• Completed required health screenings and immunizations (Fit Test, drug screen, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, physical/health statement)
• Comfortable with specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklists
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and monitoring skills
• Experience with acute care and emergency/trauma protocols (TNCC-related skills)
• Proficiency with stroke assessment using NIHSS
• Accurate medication administration and documentation practices
• Ability to follow and complete facility-specific competency testing and checklists
• Teamwork, adaptability, and effective time management under pressure
