Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered nursing care using assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Deliver direct care in the Emergency Department and Telemetry/Medsurg settings with clinical confidence
• Monitor and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and communicate findings to physicians
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with EMTALA and reporting requirements
• Teach and guide patients and families, and support other nursing personnel during shifts
• Perform medication administration, basic rhythm interpretation and emergency interventions as needed
• Participate in required competency testing and complete unit-specific skills checklists

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license
• Minimum 1 year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital, preferably in the Emergency Room
• Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross)
• Current ACLS (AHA or Red Cross)
• Current PALS (AHA or Red Cross)
• Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate
• NIHSS, EDAP & EDAP II certifications preferred
• Meditech EMR experience required
• Prime-required screenings and clearances: drug screen, TB testing, immunizations (COVID vaccine preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency and telemetry patient assessment skills
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic medical record
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and basic pharmacology knowledge
• Ability to respond quickly and accurately in high-acuity situations
• Familiarity with EMTALA regulations and abuse reporting procedures
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education abilities
• Comfort floating to other units within your competency
