Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care overnight to MST patients
- Assess and document patient condition, changes, and responses to interventions
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and in a timely manner
- Implement safety and de-escalation strategies appropriate to the MST setting
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care plans
- Educate patients and families on care, safety, and next steps in plain language
- Maintain clear, thorough electronic and paper documentation for continuity of care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications a plus
- Previous clinical nursing experience; MST, behavioral health, or emergency experience preferred
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for overnight care
- Ability to work independently during per-diem overnight shifts and escalate appropriately
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical assessment and triage for acute and behavioral needs
- Medication administration and safe documentation practices
- De-escalation techniques and safety-focused patient management
- Familiarity with electronic health records and clear clinical documentation
- Effective communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
