Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high-quality patient care for adult and occasional pediatric patients in a general Med/Surg unit
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care using the Nursing Process to make timely clinical decisions
• Collaborate with the Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Lead and Nursing Supervisor to ensure safe, patient-centered care
• Provide medical, surgical, outpatient, observation and swing bed care with compassion and clinical proficiency
• Document patient status, interventions and outcomes clearly and promptly in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families on condition, treatment and discharge planning to promote recovery and safety
• Escalate changes in patient condition and participate in multidisciplinary team rounds to optimize outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Vermont RN licensure or multi-state RN licensure
• Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience
• Current BLS (American Heart Association) certification required
• Current ACLS certification required
• Familiarity with Meditech is preferred
• Flu shot required (no exceptions) — must meet credentialing requirements prior to start
• Comfort with primarily adult med/surg population; not a pediatric-only role

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-surgical nursing and acute care expertise
• Patient care coordination across inpatient, outpatient and observation settings
• Strong clinical decision-making using the Nursing Process
• Experience with Meditech electronic health records (preferred)
• Ability to care for occasional pediatric patients in a primarily adult unit
• Clear clinical documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
