Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adolescents on an inpatient psychiatric unit
• Conduct thorough assessments and implement individualized nursing interventions
• Use therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral crises
• Administer medications safely and document treatments and observations accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support treatment planning and discharge needs
• Support family communication and provide education around care plans and aftercare
• Participate in unit meetings, training, and admission/discharge processes as assigned

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in accordance with state requirements
• American Heart Association BLS certification (required)
• ACLS preferred
• Active Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) or Crisis Prevention (CPI) or MANDT or TEAM certification (one of these is required)
• Experience or comfort working in inpatient adolescent psychiatry and behavioral/crisis intervention
• Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven skills in behavioral health nursing and crisis intervention for adolescents
• Strong therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques
• Accurate medication administration and clinical documentation
• Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including psychiatry, social work and therapy
• Situational awareness, risk assessment and safe patient handling practices
• Culturally sensitive care and respect for patient and family backgrounds
