Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert care to high-risk antepartum patients (6 to 41 weeks) including PTL, previa, preeclampsia, diabetes and hypertension
• Assist with sterile speculum exams and bedside procedures, supporting assessment of effacement, dilation, station and presentation
• Maintain IV therapy and central lines (PICC/CVC) with attention to safety and infection prevention
• Administer and titrate critical medications including anticoagulants, insulin drips and magnesium sulfate per protocols
• Operate and manage PCA pumps and syringe pumps to ensure accurate medication delivery
• Circulate for C-sections in the OR, providing skilled intraoperative support
• Care for patients experiencing fetal demise or loss with sensitivity and multidisciplinary coordination
• Collaborate with NICU teams when postpartum mothers have infants in neonatal care, advocating for mother and baby
• Document care accurately and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and families

Qualifications

• Active RN license for Washington or compact nursing license accepted by Swedish facilities
• AWHONN Advanced, BLS and NRP required
• ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years clinical RN experience; must have C-section experience (screen out candidates with <2 years or no C-section exposure)
• Comfort and experience working in High Risk Antepartum and Postpartum settings
• Proven IV therapy and central line (PICC/CVC) maintenance skills
• Ability to float to postpartum and work collaboratively on variable units

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of high-risk obstetric conditions and maternal-fetal monitoring
• Proficient in sterile speculum exams and bedside procedural assistance
• Skilled with IV therapy, PICC/CVC maintenance and phlebotomy
• Experienced with medication administration and titration for heparin, insulin drips and magnesium sulfate
• Comfortable operating PCA pumps, syringe pumps and other infusion devices
• Ability to circulate in C-section and support OR workflow
• Compassionate communication and family-centered patient education skills
• Accurate clinical documentation and handoff communication
