Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct, high-quality patient care to medical-surgical and critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and ventilatory support
Operate and manage advanced medical equipment including ventilators, multiple IV pumps, arterial (A-) lines, central and other invasive lines, and chest tube management
Assess patients and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision to ensure safe, evidence-based care
Serve as a clinical leader on the unit: coach and precept staff, give direction to RNs, LPNs, CNAs and ancillary staff, and escalate care to providers and charge nurse as needed
Coordinate patient care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning and communication with interdisciplinary team members
Document patient status, treatments, and changes in condition accurately and timely; contribute to unit quality and safety initiatives

Qualifications

Current Montana RN licensure required
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
Recent experience practicing in an advanced medical-surgical unit with recent critical care nursing experience required
PALS, EPNC, TNCC certifications preferred
Demonstrated ability to precept and provide clinical leadership on the unit

Education

Degree from an accredited nursing program (Associate or BS in Nursing preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

Advanced nursing principles and procedures for medical-surgical and critical care patients
Skilled in use of multiple IV pumps, advanced patient monitoring systems, and ventilator management
Competent in care and troubleshooting of arterial lines, central/invasive lines, and chest tubes
Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and patient prioritization skills
Comfortable using basic office equipment and electronic documentation systems
