Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive otolaryngology coverage for inpatient and surgical patients during assigned blocks
- Perform required surgical procedures such as thyroidectomy and extended parotidectomy with skill and care
- Manage general ENT surgical cases — tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy and PE tube placement
- Perform endoscopic procedures including rigid and flexible bronchoscopy, laryngoscopy, and endoscopic sinus/septal work
- Evaluate and manage non-surgical ENT conditions and conduct hearing evaluations across all age groups
- Respond to consults and collaborate with hospital teams to ensure seamless patient care
- Document patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in EPIC
Qualifications
- MD or DO (required) with completion of an Otolaryngology residency
- Board certified or board eligible in Otolaryngology preferred
- Active medical license in Virginia, or ability to obtain licensure quickly
- Proven experience with ENT surgical procedures listed (thyroidectomy, parotidectomy, rhinoplasty, facial fracture repair)
- Comfortable performing flexible and rigid bronchoscopy and endoscopic sinus procedures
- Familiarity with EPIC or similar EMR for documentation
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a hospital multidisciplinary team
Education
- MD or DO; completion of Otolaryngology residency
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong surgical skillset in head & neck and general ENT procedures
- Experience with endoscopic sinus surgery and septal procedures
- Competence in airway procedures: flexible and rigid bronchoscopy, laryngoscopy
- Facial trauma recognition and repair including facial fracture repair, skin grafts and flaps
- Ability to perform hearing evaluations and manage common audiologic concerns
- Comfortable in a fast-paced hospital environment and collaborating across services
- Efficient and accurate EPIC documentation habits
