Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide full-scope emergency and inpatient care as the sole provider covering ED and Med/Surg at MercyOne Elkader
• Evaluate, stabilize and manage patients presenting to the emergency department
• Order and interpret imaging and lab studies and coordinate appropriate care
• Perform emergency procedures appropriate to your scope of practice
• Document thoroughly in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with RNs, paramedics, physicians and ancillary staff to deliver safe, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Able to obtain Iowa Nurse Practitioner privileges (temp privileges are an option)
• Demonstrated clinical ability to practice independently in an emergency setting
• Comfort working as sole provider covering ED and Med/Surg
• Familiarity with EPIC is a plus
• Eligible for required state licensure and credentialing (facility does not reimburse application/credentialing fees)

Education

• Graduate degree as a Nurse Practitioner (MSN or DNP preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency assessment and stabilization skills
• Inpatient and emergency care clinical decision-making
• Procedural competency appropriate for ED practice
• Effective communication and teamwork with nursing and ancillary staff
• Efficient patient flow and volume management in a low-volume ED
• Proficiency or willingness to use EPIC for documentation
