Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform focused OB/GYN outpatient nursing tasks including Pap smears, specimen collection, and women's health assessments
• Administer vaccines and medications (IM & SQ) safely and document in Epic
• Start and maintain IVs, perform phlebotomy and blood draws with proficiency
• Support procedures such as IUD insertion/removal, Nexplanon insertion/removal, NST monitoring and assist with outpatient minor procedures
• Conduct telephone triage, follow-up calls, and medication reconciliation to keep patient care coordinated
• Take and interpret vital signs, monitor patients, and escalate changes in condition to providers promptly
• Chart accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care and compliance with clinic workflows
• Collaborate with the OB/GYN team to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to adolescents, adults and geriatric patients

Qualifications

• Active California LVN license required
• Minimum 3 years LVN experience in primary care, urgent care or outpatient clinic (L&D experience acceptable if outpatient clinic experience also present)
• BLS from AHA or ARC required
• IV/Blood draw certification and demonstrated proficiency with venipuncture
• Required: flu vaccination (no declinations/exemptions)
• Epic experience required for charting
• Preferred: Phlebotomy certification, experience with Pap, colposcopy, LEEP, D&C, EMB, IUD and Nexplanon procedures, and NST experience

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Vocational Nursing (LVN) program; active California LVN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient use of Epic for charting and documentation
• Skilled in IV therapy, venipuncture and specimen labeling
• Strong vaccine administration technique and adherence to facility vaccine policies
• Comfortable performing women's health procedures including Pap smears and IUD/Nexplanon care
• Effective telephone triage, follow-up and patient education skills
• Medication administration IM & SQ with sound medication reconciliation practices
• Ability to monitor fetal NSTs and recognize abnormal findings
• Good clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork in a fast-paced outpatient setting
