Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient care including patient admissions and daily management
• Cover ICU patients admitted to the hospitalist service with PulmCrit teleconsult support
• Respond to night call admissions and floor calls between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM
• Collaborate closely with General Surgery, Cardiology, Urology, and Pulmonology teams to coordinate care
• Document thoroughly in the MediTech EMR to ensure continuity and quality
• Manage a typical daily census of 9-10 patients while maintaining patient safety and satisfaction
• Participate in orientation and handoffs to maintain smooth transitions of care

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required
• Active or eligible Virginia medical license
• Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine preferred
• Experience in inpatient medicine and patient admissions; comfortable with night call responsibilities
• Familiarity with MediTech or similar EMR systems
• Procedures preferred: intubation and central line placement; procedures not required but a plus
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications or ability to obtain promptly

Education

• MD or DO (Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong inpatient medicine and hospitalist clinical skills
• ICU management experience with ability to coordinate teleconsults for critical care support
• Efficient admissions and triage skills, especially during night call
• Comfortable collaborating with surgical and specialty services
• Proficient documentation and charting in MediTech
• Calm decision-making under pressure and excellent communication with multidisciplinary teams
