Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to oncology and women’s surgical patients on a 24-bed unit
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy and other medications with attention to safety and protocol
• Assess and monitor patients throughout the night shift, responding to changes and escalating concerns
• Document care accurately and promptly using Cerner EMR to ensure continuity and clear communication
• Collaborate with RNs, CNAs, charge staff and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Provide patient and family education about treatments, procedures and discharge planning
• Support unit procedures such as occasional pelvic exams, echo assistance and thoracentesis preparation and monitoring

Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be eligible to work in North Carolina preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (oncology or med-surg experience highly valued)
• BLS certification required
• Chemo certification preferred (nice-to-have)
• Comfortable working with 1:4 to 1:5 patient ratios and standard med-surg equipment
• Team-player attitude, willingness to learn, and strong communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and safe chemotherapy administration
• Med-surgical nursing skills and experience
• Proficient with Cerner EMR for documentation and order entry
• Ability to manage overnight patient assessments and prioritize care
• Familiarity with procedures such as echoes, thoracentesis support and occasional pelvic exams
• Strong clinical judgment, patient advocacy and collaboration skills
