Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality orthopedic nursing care to post-op and inpatient orthopedic patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings accurately in Cerner
• Manage wound care, including dressing changes, Wound Vac maintenance and removal
• Insert and care for Foley catheters and manage NG tubes as needed
• Remove sutures and staples and coordinate follow-up care with the surgical team
• Assist with safe patient transfers using lifts and transfer devices and educate patients on mobility
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Maintain accurate med-surg documentation and ensure adherence to unit guidelines and policies

Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina (NC License required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (hospital or Med-Surg preferred)
• Orthopedic surgery or ortho Med-Surg experience preferred
• BLS certification required
• Comfortable and experienced with lifts, transfer devices, CPM use and mobility assistance
• Experience with wound vacs, dressing changes, Foley and NG tube care

Education

• Nursing degree (ADN or BSN) with active RN licensure; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in Cerner EMR documentation
• Strong patient assessment and med-surg clinical judgment
• Wound care and Wound Vac maintenance expertise
• Skillful with suture and staple removal techniques
• Safe patient handling and transfer knowledge (Sky lifts, Sara Stedy, Maxi Move, etc.)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced orthopedic unit and be a team player
