Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality critical care to ICU patients and respond proactively to changing conditions
• Perform thorough patient assessments and continuous monitoring of hemodynamic and respiratory status
• Manage ventilators and advanced life support equipment with precision
• Administer medications and titrate drips per protocols and provider orders
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes
• Lead and participate in emergency responses and code situations when required
• Provide clear, compassionate education and communication to patients and families
• Float to acute care floors when needed to support patient flow and staffing

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Iowa)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications required or current
• Current fit test and ability to meet facility health requirements
• Successful completion of Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist
• Current immunizations and negative drug screen per facility policy
• Comfort and willingness to float to acute care floors as needed
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ICU patient management
• Advanced patient assessment and trend recognition
• Ventilator management and respiratory care basics
• ECG interpretation and rhythm recognition
• Familiarity with stroke assessment using NIHSS
• Trauma assessment fundamentals aligned with TNCC
• Clear communication with multidisciplinary teams
• Adaptability to float and cross-cover acute care areas
