Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide specialized cardiac intensive care for CVICU patients with focused, compassionate nursing
• Monitor hemodynamics and cardiac rhythms, responding swiftly to changes in patient status
• Administer medications and titrate infusions safely and accurately according to orders
• Manage post-operative cardiac patients, including monitoring devices and chest tube care
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and the care team to deliver coordinated care
• Perform thorough assessments and document patient status and interventions clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment plans, and recovery goals
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU or cardiac critical care experience (as stated)
• Ability to provide high-acuity cardiac nursing care with strong clinical judgment
• Facility-required certifications and competencies as applicable (e.g., BLS/ACLS if required by the hospital)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate in a fast-paced ICU environment

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred when available

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of cardiac post-operative care and cardiovascular critical care principles
• Skill with hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of invasive pressures and telemetry
• Familiarity with managing drips, titrations, and advanced cardiac support devices
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking abilities
• Accurate clinical documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
