Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity maternal care in Labor & Delivery, supporting safe outcomes for moms and babies
• Circulate and scrub for C-sections and assist the OR team when needed
• Manage IV drips such as magnesium and other critical infusions with vigilance
• Assess and triage obstetric patients in the OB triage rooms with timely clinical judgment
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech
• Collaborate closely with Level III NICU for high-risk neonatal needs
• Support patient experience goals by delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
• Float within the women’s and children’s service line as staffing needs require

Qualifications

• Active RN license for the state of Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery clinical experience
• BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications (required)
• AWHONN Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate certification preferred
• Experience circulating/scrubbing in the OR and with C-sections is highly desirable
• Comfort with high-acuity maternal care and IV magnesium infusion management
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation (experience required or strongly preferred)

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• ADN or BSN in Nursing (BSN preferred)
• BLS, ACLS, NRP (required); AWHONN Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery and LDR unit workflows
• OB triage assessment and prioritization
• C-section circulating and scrub support
• Epidurals, spinals, cerclage and external version familiarity
• IV management including magnesium infusions
• High-acuity maternal and neonatal collaboration (Level III NICU)
• Electronic documentation in Meditech and strong charting practices
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
