Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-anesthesia patient care under the supervision of the Unit Director
• Assess patients in the PACU, monitor recovery, and document patient status clearly
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered while maintaining patient safety
• Collaborate with the Clinical Leader/Charge Nurse and the interdisciplinary team to ensure smooth handoffs
• Recognize and escalate changes in patient condition promptly
• Support discharge planning and patient/family education for a safe transition

Qualifications

• Current Maine RN license or compact RN license required
• BLS current or obtained within 30 days of hire
• ACLS current or obtained within 90 days of hire
• PALS current or obtained within 1 year of hire
• ASN required; BSN preferred
• 1–3 years of nursing experience preferred (PACU or perioperative experience beneficial)
• Must be a team player with strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task

• BSN (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient care skills in a post-anesthesia setting
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and team members
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a busy clinical environment
• Familiarity with PACU monitoring, assessments, and postoperative protocols
• Critical thinking and timely clinical decision-making
