Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Plant Operations, Environmental Services, and Grounds functions to ensure safe, efficient facility operations
- Supervise and mentor approximately 45 FTEs across multiple divisions, setting clear expectations and training plans
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and inspect equipment to maintain operational standards
- Direct maintenance of utility systems (heat, steam, power, gas, oxygen) to support continuous patient care
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS, and local building and fire codes
- Coordinate and manage outside contractors, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and regulatory requirements
- Act as a collaborative liaison with other departments to assess needs and develop actionable plans
- Apply engineering principles to diagnose, detect, and repair malfunctioning equipment and systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5+ years of personnel management experience
- Thorough knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC, and general building maintenance
- Familiarity with autoclaving, bio-waste handling, life safety codes, construction phasing, and environmental services operations
- Proven ability to apply engineering principles to troubleshoot and repair equipment
- Willingness to relocate to a rural community
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Facilities management and plant operations oversight
- Environmental Services (EVS) and grounds maintenance experience
- Preventive maintenance planning and execution
- Regulatory compliance (NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS)
- HVAC, boiler operation, plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry knowledge
- Leadership, personnel management, and training development
- Ability to coordinate contractors and cross-departmental projects
