Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support and mentorship to new employees, experienced staff, and students to elevate patient care and clinical skills
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation and ongoing educational activities, including continuing education and staff updates
• Serve as a clinical practice resource for complex patient care, medication administration, and treatment planning
• Act as a liaison between bedside nursing staff and leadership to communicate concerns, feedback, and improvement opportunities
• Analyze patient data to identify practice gaps and develop targeted interventions to close those gaps
• Facilitate implementation of new clinical practices, protocols, and equipment, including staff training and follow-up
• Conduct quality control audits and report findings related to nursing accuracy, quality of care, and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Alaska
• Basic Life Support (BLS) — American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) — American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) — American Heart Association
• Clinical Competency Assessment (SEARHC) and High Risk Competency (SEARHC)
• Minimum of 5 years of acute care RN experience preferred
• Flexibility to work varying schedules including weekends and holidays

Education

• Nursing degree required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of clinical practice standards and acute care nursing
• Proficient in patient assessment and safe medication administration
• Experience with EHR systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong teaching, precepting, and staff education abilities
• Critical thinking and quality improvement mindset to identify and close practice gaps
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and lead clinical problem-solving
