Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and maintenance of the internal risk management program to protect patients and the organization
• Direct the organization-wide patient safety program and drive process improvements that reduce medical errors
• Conduct and lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) to identify system-based solutions
• Investigate, evaluate, and report adverse incidents in accordance with state and federal regulatory requirements
• Coordinate disclosure and follow-up with patients, families, and the healthcare team after adverse events
• Facilitate patient safety rounds, provide education, and mentor staff on safety and risk management practices
• Support accreditation and quality activities including chart audits, clinical reviews, and data support
• Collaborate closely with Medical Directors, CMO, and corporate counsel on peer review and quality of care issues

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted, active Registered Nursing license in Alaska (required)
• CPHRM certification required within two (2) years of hire
• Clinical competency to be demonstrated within 3 months and maintained every 3 years
• Minimum 3 years experience in monitoring risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
• Proven leadership experience facilitating cross-functional teams and working collaboratively across departments
• Knowledge of AK statutes and experience with regulatory reporting and disclosure management

Education

• Active Registered Nursing license in Alaska (required)
• CPHRM certification (to be achieved within two years)
• Clinical competency demonstrated within 3 months and maintained every 3 years

Knowledge & Skills

• Risk management and patient safety principles, including RCA and FMEA
• Regulatory compliance and accreditation standards (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF)
• Incident investigation, disclosure management, and grievance analysis
• Quality improvement methodologies and clinical review/chart audit processes
• Strong communication, team facilitation, and mentoring abilities
• Ability to collaborate with medical leadership and corporate counsel on complex quality issues
