Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for oncology patients on the unit
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to policy, documenting in Cerner
• Perform focused patient assessments and monitor clinical status for timely intervention
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members to support optimal patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and symptom management
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Support unit workflow and assist with occasional procedures like thoracentesis and echoes as needed

Qualifications

• Valid RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; oncology or med-surgical experience preferred
• Chemo certification is a plus and will make your application stand out
• Comfortable using Cerner or similar EMR systems

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing and med-surgical care principles
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR documentation
• Ability to manage patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and medication administration skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork and ability to work in a fast-paced unit
• Experience with basic procedures and supportive care common to oncology units
