Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity ICU nursing care for adult and geriatric patients with compassion and precision
• Manage ventilated patients including ventilator settings, suctioning and ABG interpretation
• Administer and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips safely and per protocol
• Access and manage arterial lines, central lines and PICC lines; start and maintain IVs
• Administer blood products and monitor patients for transfusion reactions
• Perform tracheostomy and chest tube care, including assistance with insertion/removal when needed
• Interpret 12-lead EKGs and dysrhythmias and respond to cardiac events
• Chart thoroughly and timely in Epic to maintain clear continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory, PT, Pharmacy, Social Work, Radiology) to optimize outcomes
• Float between like units/campuses within scope to support facility needs

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (pending licenses are NOT accepted)
• BLS and ACLS required; NIH/NIHSS certification required
• Minimum overall nursing experience: 5 years (job data indicates 5 years)
• Minimum ICU experience: 2 years (specified in ICU requirements)
• Comfortable with 1:2–1:3 patient ratios in the ICU
• Able and willing to float between campuses and work every-other-weekend schedule
• Previous charge experience preferred but not required
• Travel experience not required; first-time travel nurses are accepted

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and care of the ventilated patient
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
• Arterial line, central line and PICC management
• Blood product administration
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and tracheostomy care
• Chest tube care and basic thoracic assist
• Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Epic charting proficiency
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions and phlebotomy skills
