Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Variable 12-hour shifts (traveler's choice: 4x12 or 3x12 per week), Day shift 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or Night shift 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, shifts scheduled as either Days or Nights (not routinely rotated for caregivers), must be able to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to long-term care residents, delivering medication administration and routine assessments
- Perform and document vital sign monitoring and AccuChecks accurately in the ECS charting system
- Manage enteral feeding and G-tube/NG tube care safely and with confidence
- Insert and care for Foley catheters (female/male) and support genitourinary needs
- Administer oxygen, respiratory treatments (nebulizers), and assist with respiratory care plans
- Start/monitor IV hydration and perform phlebotomy lab draws as needed
- Assess, treat and document wounds and perform wound care interventions
- Admit patients, communicate status changes to RN/MD, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team
- Maintain isolation/infection precautions and support a safe environment for vulnerable adults
- Float within scope to meet facility needs and support continuity of care across units
Qualifications
- Active LVN/LPN license — Alaska (AK) nursing license MUST be in hand at time of submission
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of LTC (Long Term Care) nursing experience required
- Previous travel experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
- Comfort with a 1:20 patient ratio and experience managing care for adults/geriatrics
- Ability to perform Foley catheter insertion (male/female), G-tube care, IV hydration, phlebotomy and wound care
- Willingness to float within scope, work required holidays, and comply with RTO restrictions
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required if using facility-provided rental vehicle
- Locals not accepted — permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility
Education
- LPN/LVN license (Licensed Practical Nurse / Licensed Vocational Nurse) required
- Vocational nursing program or equivalent training leading to LPN/LVN licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong Long Term Care clinical skills including medication administration and vital sign monitoring
- Proficient charting in ECS and clear, timely clinical documentation
- Feeding tube and NG/G-tube care and management
- Blood Glucose Monitoring / AccuChecks and experience with implanted glucose sensors (preferred)
- Respiratory care skills: oxygen delivery, nasal cannula, face masks, nebulizer treatments
- IV hydration, phlebotomy, and basic wound care techniques
- Familiarity with lifts, Sara Steady systems, EKGs and pacemaker transmitters
- Excellent communication skills for reporting patient status to RN/MD and working with interdisciplinary teams
- Infection control and isolation precaution procedures
