Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding)
- Assist residents with mobility and transfers, using safe body mechanics
- Take and record vital signs; promptly report changes in condition to nursing staff
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive proper nutrition
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and communicate clearly with the care team
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
- Build meaningful relationships with residents and their families, promoting dignity and respect
- Participate in team huddles and contribute to a positive, resident-centered environment
Qualifications
- GNA certification (or state-recognized equivalent) — required or preferred depending on state rules
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Demonstrated compassion and experience working with older adults or in long-term care
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to quality resident care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a state-approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant / Nursing Assistant program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with ADLs and basic resident care
- Understanding of infection control, safety and resident dignity
- Comfortable with documentation and charting basic observations
- Basic knowledge of mobility assistance and safe transfer techniques
- Good observational skills to notice subtle changes in resident condition
- Teamwork, patience, and the ability to follow care plans
