Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' communication, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing needs using evidence-based tools
- Develop individualized treatment plans with clear, measurable goals
- Implement therapeutic interventions and adapt techniques to each patient's progress
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians and families to coordinate comprehensive care
- Document assessments, plans and progress in the facility’s required format in a timely manner
- Educate patients, families and staff on communication strategies and safe swallowing practices
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Active state license as a Speech-Language Pathologist (required)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or equivalent certification/credentials
- Experience in rehabilitation, contract, or long-term care settings is a plus
- Current CPR/BLS per facility requirements (if applicable)
- Clean background check and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent clinical graduate degree)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven skills in speech, language, cognition and dysphagia assessment and intervention
- Familiarity with documentation standards and electronic health records
- Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Ability to prioritize caseload and manage time effectively
- Comfort working with a diverse patient population and adapting therapy to individual needs
