Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with compassion and dignity
• Support mobility and transfers safely using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Provide respectful companionship and help maintain resident comfort and morale
• Document care provided accurately and timely according to facility protocols
• Help maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety procedures
• Assist with meals and feeding, monitoring intake and reporting concerns

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (state-approved) required
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience caring for geriatric residents or in long-term care preferred
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and meet facility health requirements
• Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to resident-centered care

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completed GNA training program and certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skill in safe resident handling, transfers, and fall prevention
• Ability to accurately record observations and follow care plans
• Familiarity with infection control, hand hygiene, and PPE use
• Compassionate interpersonal skills and patience with older adults
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
