Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a PCU/Stepdown telemetry environment
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and respond to dysrhythmias and emergencies
• Initiate IV starts, manage central line care, and administer medications per protocols
• Manage HFNC and other advanced respiratory support as indicated
• Implement IV insulin and heparin protocols, and manage cardiac drips (no titration)
• Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory, pharmacy, PT, and rapid response
• Float to equivalent or lower acuity units when needed to meet patient care needs

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the state of practice (required)
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown experience (explicit requirement)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Demonstrated IV start and telemetry experience (required)
• EPIC charting experience (required)
• Experience with central line care/management, HFNC, and cardiac monitoring
• Familiarity with IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, and insulin drip titration
• Previous travel experience preferred but not required

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/ASN or BSN) — active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition/management
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting
• Skilled IV starts, phlebotomy, and central line maintenance
• Comfort managing high-flow oxygen therapy (HFNC) and emergency responses
• Knowledge of heparin and IV insulin protocols and cardiac drip workflows
• Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and teamwork in a fast-paced unit
• Clear communication with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
