Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert peri-procedural nursing care for diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral cases — think PCI, angioplasty, stent placement and more
- Prepare patients and equipment for procedures including pacemaker/defibrillator work, Impella/IABP support, and vascular access management
- Safely manage radiation and laser safety protocols and perform sheath removal and vascular closure device care
- Monitor and interpret EKGs, dysrhythmias, hemodynamics and procedural sedation; intervene quickly and confidently
- Document thoroughly in Epic to keep the team informed and ensure continuity of care
- Serve on-call and weekend rotations as assigned, responding to emergent cath lab activations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Rapid Response) to optimize patient outcomes
- Mentor colleagues and participate in orientation activities to help new team members succeed
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years Cath Lab RN experience (required)
- ARRT and Fluoro Permit required/preferred (pending Fluoro permits considered if already applied at time of submission)
- BLS and ACLS required
- Experience with cardiac catheterization procedures, PCI, pacemaker insertion/management, sheath removal and vascular closure systems
- Comfortable with Epic charting (preferred)
- First-time travelers accepted; local candidates also welcome
- RCIS-only credentials are not acceptable for this RN role
Knowledge & Skills
- Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI) and angioplasty procedures
- Pacemaker insertion/management and pacemaker/defibrillator lead handling
- Sheath removal, monitoring and use of vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
- Radiation and laser safety best practices
- Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG and manage dysrhythmias
- Monitoring procedural sedation and emergency medication administration
- Familiarity with Epic for charting and documentation
- Experience/support with advanced devices: Impella, IABP, TEE, stent graft placement and electrophysiology procedures
